Who it’s for

Who this programme is for.

Designed for learners aged 12 to 14 who are ready to go beyond the basics of coding.

  • Ready to take coding further
  • Interested in how websites and robots are built
  • Motivated by projects that grow

What learners will learn

What learners will learn.

Solid foundations, and a clear step from blocks toward text-based code.

  • Stronger coding foundations

Writing clearer, more capable programs with confidence.

  • From blocks to Python

Moving from block-based coding toward text-based Python.

  • Web basics

How web pages are put together, and how to build simple ones.

  • Robotics

Connecting code to hardware and real-world behaviour.

  • Project-based learning

Applying skills to projects that grow in scope.

  • Debugging and problem solving

Finding faults, fixing them and learning from them.

What learners build and do

Learning that ends in something made.

Learners work on projects that bring their skills together. Examples of what they may do:

  • Write programs in Python
  • Build a simple web page
  • Program a robot
  • Combine skills in a project

Learning approach

How learning works here.

  • Hands-onLearners spend their time making and testing, not only watching.
  • GuidedClear steps and support help learners keep moving forward.
  • Project-basedSkills come together in finished pieces of work.
  1. Learn

Clear, guided introductions to each new idea.

  2. Practice

Hands-on exercises that put the idea to work.

  3. Build

Small projects that bring the skills together.

  4. Receive feedback

Guidance on what works and how to improve it.

  5. Complete a project

A finished piece of work to show for the effort.
